If you advertised through Google AdWords program between January 1, 2004, and December 13, 2012, you may be owed compensation from a new class action settlement. Google has settled a class action over allegations that it misled advertisers about location targeting and manipulated pricing formulas, resulting in overcharges. Google has not admitted to any wrongdoing but has agreed to pay $100 million to resolve the claims. The court has not decided in favor of either party, but both sides have agreed to the settlement to avoid further litigation costs and risks.
Google has agreed to pay $100,000,000 in cash.
There are two separate classes in this settlement, and you may qualify for one or both of them:
• Location Targeting Class: U.S.-based advertisers who paid for clicks on Google AdWords ads between January 1, 2004, and March 22, 2011, where clicks originated outside the selected location.
• Search Bundled Clicks Class: U.S.-based advertisers who paid for clicks on Google Display Network ads between June 1, 2009, and December 13, 2012, where ads were shown on both Search and Display Networks without a separate Display Network bid.
