LifeStance Pixel Tracking Privacy Class Action Settlement — Pro Rata Cash for Patients
PublishedJuly 14, 2026
If you were a LifeStance patient between March 2020 and April 2023, you can file for a pro rata cash payment from a $3.03 million website tracking-pixel privacy settlement before the September 29, 2026 deadline.
LifeStance Health Group, Inc. — one of the largest outpatient mental health and behavioral
health providers in the United States — has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging
that it used third-party tracking technologies, commonly called pixels, on its public website
to collect and disclose patients' personally identifiable information to third parties. The
complaint alleges that information was shared with companies including Meta (the parent of
Facebook) and Google without permission, in violation of state and federal statutes.
Tracking pixels are small snippets of code that websites embed to record visitor activity and
send that data to advertising and analytics companies. LifeStance denies any wrongdoing, and
the court has not decided who is right; both sides agreed to settle to avoid the cost and
uncertainty of continued litigation.
The lawsuit is captioned Strong v. LifeStance Health Group, Inc., Case No.
2:23-cv-00682, and is pending in the United States District Court for the District of Arizona.
Under the settlement, LifeStance will fund a non-reversionary settlement of $3,027,874.44, and
eligible patients can submit a claim for a pro rata cash payment from their subclass fund. The
claim deadline is September 29, 2026.

Who Qualifies for the LifeStance Settlement?
The Settlement Class covers LifeStance's total patient population between March 1, 2020 and
April 30, 2023, divided into two subclasses:
Subclass 1: Patients who booked at least one session through LifeStance's online booking tool, accessed through its public website lifestance.com, between March 1, 2020 and April 30, 2023.
Subclass 2: All other LifeStance patients during that same period (March 1, 2020 – April 30, 2023) who are not part of Subclass 1.
Excluded from the Settlement Class are LifeStance's officers and directors and any entity in
which LifeStance or its parents have a controlling interest, anyone who validly requests
exclusion, defense counsel who advised LifeStance on the case, and the members of the
judiciary to whom the case is assigned, their families, and their staff. LifeStance's records
identify the class members, and the Settlement Administrator sent notices with a Notice ID and
Confirmation Code. If you received a notice, you are on the eligibility list. If you believe
you qualify but cannot find your notice, you can request your Notice ID and Confirmation Code
through the official settlement website.
How Much Can You Get?
Each Settlement Class Member who submits a valid, timely claim receives a pro rata (equal)
share of their subclass's fund. LifeStance is funding a non-reversionary Settlement Fund of
$3,027,874.44, made up of a Subclass 1 Fund of $1,203,405.00 and a Subclass 2 Fund of
$1,824,469.44. From each subclass fund, the court will deduct attorneys' fees and expenses,
service awards, and settlement administration costs; the remainder is divided pro rata among
the valid claims in that subclass.
Because the payment is pro rata on a per-claimant basis — not per appointment or per website
visit — the exact per-person amount depends on how many people in each subclass file a valid
claim. When you file, you can choose to be paid by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, a virtual prepaid
card, or a mailed check. Separately, Class Counsel will ask the court to approve attorneys'
fees of up to 33% of the Settlement Fund plus reasonable costs, and the class representatives
may request service awards of up to $2,500 each — all subject to court approval and paid from
the fund.
The settlement also includes injunctive relief: LifeStance has discontinued, or will
discontinue, the use of all third-party tracking pixels other than pixels compliant with the
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) for a period of five years from
the settlement's effective date.
How to File a LifeStance Claim
There are two ways to file, both with the same September 29, 2026 deadline:
Online: Go to the official settlement website and log in with the Notice ID and Confirmation Code printed on your email or mailed notice. Confirm your contact information and choose your payment method (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, virtual prepaid card, or mailed check). Online claims must be submitted no later than September 29, 2026.
By mail: Download the printable claim form from the settlement website, complete your name, contact information, and Notice ID, select a payment option, sign the certification, and mail it to the Settlement Administrator. Mailed claims must be postmarked no later than September 29, 2026.
If you cannot locate your Notice ID and Confirmation Code, the official settlement website
explains how to request them from the Settlement Administrator.
Key Deadlines

Object to the settlement: August 31, 2026

The Court still has to decide whether to grant final approval. Payments for valid, timely
claims will only be made after the Court approves the settlement and it becomes final, and
after any appeals are resolved. If you do nothing, you will not receive a payment, and unless
you opt out you will give up the right to sue LifeStance over the privacy claims this
settlement resolves.
Tracking Pixels and Health Privacy Lawsuits
The LifeStance case is part of a wave of class actions over tracking pixels on healthcare,
telehealth, and patient-portal websites. Plaintiffs in these cases typically allege that
pixels from advertising and analytics companies such as Meta and Google captured information
about patients' visits — pages viewed, appointment bookings, and sometimes form entries — and
transmitted it to third parties without consent, in violation of wiretap-style and privacy
statutes like the
California Invasion of Privacy Act (CIPA).
Similar settlements on OCA include the
Allina Health pixel tracking settlement
and the
Call-On-Doc pixel tracking settlement.
Defendants in these cases, including LifeStance here, deny wrongdoing, and courts have not
ruled that the conduct violated any law.

How much will I get from the LifeStance settlement?

website.
