The case is Spencer v. Assa Abloy Entrance Systems US Inc., et al., No. 25-2-21276-9 KNT, in King
County Superior Court. The plaintiff claimed that the companies’ job postings for Washington openings did
not disclose the wage scale or salary range, or a general description of benefits and other compensation,
as Washington’s Equal Pay and Opportunities Act requires under RCW 49.58.110. The defendants deny the claims
and say they did not violate any law. The court’s August 20, 2026 order preliminarily approved the
settlement and authorized notice to the class.
The settlement class covers people who, from January 1, 2023 through July 26, 2025, completed an application
for a job opening in Washington with one or more of the defendants — ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems US Inc.,
ASSA ABLOY Americas Residential Inc., AADG, Inc., ASSA ABLOY Level LLC, LUXER Corporation and Ameristar
Perimeter Security USA Inc. — through a posting on the companies’ websites or an authorized third-party
recruiting platform that did not include a wage scale or salary range. The defendants told the court there
are 158 class members, identified from their records.
Every class member who files a valid claim receives an equal share of the net settlement fund, up to $5,000
per person. The total fund depends on participation. It is $269,513 if 79 or fewer people claim, and it
grows by $1,588.45 for each additional claimant, up to $395,000. Out of the fund come up to $116,525 in
attorneys’ fees, up to $5,000 in costs, a service award of up to $10,000 and up to $12,500 in administration
costs, if the court approves them.
Under the formula in the settlement agreement, if those amounts are approved as requested, each claimant
would receive about $1,588 once 79 or more class members claim. If fewer claim, the shares are larger, up to
the $5,000 cap; anything above the cap goes to the Legal Foundation of Washington. Each class member’s own
estimate is printed on the claim form sent with the notice. These are estimates until the court rules.
No receipts or documents are needed, because the class was identified from the defendants’ hiring records.
Filing online does require the LoginID and PIN printed on the notice; the claim portal will not open without
them. The paper claim form enclosed with the notice can be mailed or emailed to the administrator instead.
The settlement website explains how to request a LoginID and PIN for anyone who cannot find the notice. All
claims are subject to verification.
Claims must be submitted online or postmarked by December 4, 2026. The deadlines to opt out or object are
also December 4, 2026.
Claims are filed through the
official
Assa Abloy settlement website using the LoginID and PIN from the notice. Class members whose address or
contact information changes need to update the settlement administrator so the check reaches them.
Judge McHale will hold the final approval hearing on February 5, 2027 at 9:00 a.m., with remote attendance
available. If the settlement is approved, checks will be mailed to claimants after any appeals and other
reviews are complete. The notice says checks expire 180 days after they are issued. No payment date has been
announced.

Which companies are part of the Assa Abloy job postings settlement?
The defendants are ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems US Inc., ASSA ABLOY Americas Residential Inc., AADG, Inc., ASSA ABLOY Level LLC, LUXER Corporation and Ameristar Perimeter Security USA Inc. Applying for a Washington job with any of them during the class period can qualify, if the posting did not include a wage scale or salary range.
Why does the Assa Abloy settlement amount range from $269,513 to $395,000?
The total depends on how many class members file. The minimum fund of $269,513 covers up to 79 claimants, about half of the 158-person class. For each additional claimant, the fund grows by $1,588.45, up to the $395,000 maximum, which keeps the per-person share roughly the same as more people claim.
Is there a cap on individual Assa Abloy settlement payments?
Yes. Each participating class member can receive no more than $5,000. If an equal share would exceed $5,000, the excess goes to the Legal Foundation of Washington instead of to the claimants or back to the defendants.
Can Assa Abloy retaliate against applicants who file a claim?
The court-approved notice states that the defendants support the settlement and will not retaliate in any way against any class member for participating, objecting or staying out of the settlement, and that the decision will not affect any application for employment.
