The $15M Cash App data breach settlement has final approval and payments are going out to approved claimants — here is the payment timeline and how to check your claim status.
Update — June 2026: Cash App users are also receiving "Your Compensation Payment from Cash App is on the Way" emails about checks mailed by Epiq. Those payments come from Block's separate CFPB consent order — not this data breach settlement — and require no claim form. See our Cash App CFPB Settlement Checks article for that program. A third, unrelated case — the Cash App referral text settlement (Bottoms v. Block) — reissued its own checks at $394.36 in a second round in spring 2026.
Cash App Settlement Payment Status Update — July 2026
On March 27, 2025, the District Court for the Northern District of California granted Final Approval of the settlement in Salinas, et al. v. Block, Inc. and Cash App Investing, LLC, Case No. 22-cv-04823. A copy of the Final Approval Order is available on the official settlement website.

The class action lawsuit alleged that Block, Inc. and Cash App Investing, LLC were negligent, made misrepresentations, and breached obligations to their users in connection with three central issues:• April 2022 Data Breach: A data security incident that Cash App Investing disclosed in April 2022, in which a former employee accessed customer reports containing personal and financial information without authorization.
• October 2023 Data Breach: A separate data security incident that Block disclosed in October 2023, further compromising customer data.
• Unauthorized Transactions: Alleged unauthorized and fraudulent withdrawals and transfers of funds to or from Cash App accounts and linked accounts, as well as issues with complaint and error resolution processes.

Who Is Eligible for the Cash App Settlement?
You may be eligible for the Settlement Class if you are a current or former customer of Cash App, Cash App Investing, or any of their affiliated companies, and:• Your personal information, Cash App account, or Cash App Investing account was accessed without your authorization, or
• You experienced unauthorized or fraudulent withdrawals or transfers of funds, or
• You encountered unresolved errors in your Cash App account or any linked financial account between August 23, 2018, and August 20, 2024.
How Much Will I Get from the Cash App Settlement?
The total settlement fund is $15 million. The exact amount each claimant receives depends on the number of valid claims submitted and the specific losses documented. The settlement covers three categories of compensation:• Out-of-Pocket Losses: Reimbursement for documented expenses incurred as a result of the data breaches or unauthorized transactions.
• Lost Time: Compensation for time spent dealing with issues caused by the data breaches, such as monitoring accounts, placing fraud alerts, or communicating with banks.
• Transaction Losses: Reimbursement for unauthorized or fraudulent transactions on Cash App accounts.
Based on the approximately 40,380 approved claims and $5.6 million in approved payments so far, the average payout is estimated at around $200 per approved claimant. However, this number may change as the claims deficiency review process is completed.
How to Check Your Cash App Settlement Claim Status
If you filed a claim and want to check on its status, you have two options:Online: Visit the official settlement website at CashAppSecuritySettlement.com. You can use the "Look Up Notice ID" feature to find information about your specific claim.

If your claim had a deficiency, you may have received a notice asking for additional information. The review of these deficiency responses is currently ongoing, and payments for claims that are subsequently approved will be issued after the cure process is complete.
