Wyze Labs is recalling about 321,360 Solar Cam Pan outdoor security cameras in the United States, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall, announced June 4, 2026, covers the white, wire-free Solar Cam Pan with motorized pan-and-tilt and an integrated solar panel, model number WYZESCPWH. The model number is printed on the back of the camera.
The cameras were sold at Home Depot and Micro Center stores and online at Wyze.com, Amazon, Best Buy, Temu, and other online retailers from October 2025 through April 2026 for about $80. Wyze is offering affected consumers a free replacement camera with a solar panel accessory, a full refund, or a gift card for the original purchase price to use on Wyze's website.
According to the CPSC recall notice, incorrect assembly instructions shipped with the camera can lead consumers to attach the solar panel to the top of the camera using the wrong screws — long flat-head wood screws instead of the short pan-head machine screws. The longer screws can puncture the metal casing of the camera's lithium-ion battery, causing the battery to rapidly overheat. That creates a risk of serious injury or property damage from fire and burns.
Wyze has received 13 reports of the cameras overheating, including six devices that exploded or caught fire, and six reports of consumers suffering minor burns. Lithium-ion battery fires have driven a string of major consumer-electronics recalls in recent years, including the recall of more than one million Anker power banks over similar overheating and fire hazards.
You are covered by the recall if you bought a Wyze Solar Cam Pan (model WYZESCPWH) on or before April 3, 2026. The hazard arises when the solar panel was mounted to the top of the camera with the incorrect long flat-head wood screws. If you own one of these cameras, the CPSC says you should stop using it immediately and take it down, then contact Wyze through its official recall page to confirm your unit is affected and choose your remedy.
Wyze is handling the recall through a dedicated page on its website. There is no cost to participate, and you can choose between three remedies:
• A free replacement camera with a solar panel accessory
• A full refund of your purchase price
• A gift card for the original purchase price, redeemable on Wyze's website
To get started, visit the official Wyze Solar Cam Pan recall page and follow the instructions to verify your camera, then fill out the recall participation form. The form asks for your name, mailing address, contact details, the date and place of purchase, your Wyze order number or proof of purchase, the camera's MAC address (found in the Wyze app under the camera's settings, then Device Info), whether the camera is installed yet, and your preferred remedy. If you bought directly from Wyze.com, your order number is in your account's order history; if you bought from a retailer, check that retailer's order history.
After you submit the form, Wyze sends a special firmware update that depletes and disables the recalled camera — it will no longer function even if it was assembled with the correct screws. You'll then be asked to dispose of the camera in accordance with local and state regulations. Because the hazard involves a lithium-ion battery, do not throw the camera in the trash or in standard battery recycling bins — follow the disposal instructions Wyze provides during the recall process. In some cases, Wyze will send a professional deinstaller to remove the camera at no charge.
Large product recalls involving fires and injuries often draw class action and personal-injury investigations, and attorneys are already publicizing investigations into the Wyze Solar Cam Pan recall. No class action complaint had been publicly confirmed as of this writing. If a lawsuit is filed — for example, on behalf of consumers whose property was damaged or who were burned — this page will be updated. For now, the recall remedy (replacement, refund, or gift card) is the official path to compensation for the camera itself.
Which Wyze cameras are being recalled?
The recall covers about 321,360 Wyze Solar Cam Pan outdoor security cameras, model number WYZESCPWH, sold in white. The model number is printed on the back of the camera. Incorrect assembly instructions could lead consumers to attach the solar panel with the wrong screws, which can puncture the lithium-ion battery's metal casing. A punctured battery can rapidly overheat, posing fire and burn hazards. Wyze has received 13 reports of cameras overheating, including six that exploded or caught fire, and six reports of consumers suffering minor burns.
What remedy does the Wyze recall offer?
Consumers who participate in the recall can choose a free replacement camera with a solar panel accessory, a full refund, or a gift card for the original purchase price to use on Wyze's website. Start the process on Wyze's official recall page.
What should I do with my recalled Wyze camera right now?
Stop using the camera and take it down, especially if the solar panel was attached to the top of the camera with long flat-head wood screws instead of the short pan-head machine screws. Then visit Wyze's official recall page to confirm whether your unit is affected and choose your remedy.
