SpotHero Map View Drip Pricing California Class Action Settlement
PublishedJuly 2, 2026
If you booked parking through SpotHero in California using its "Map View" search, you can take an automatic credit voucher or file for a cash payment instead.
SpotHero, Inc. has agreed to a $975,000 settlement to resolve a class action alleging that it violated California law by not displaying the full price — including its service fee — to reserve parking spots on its website and mobile app until near the end of the checkout process. The lawsuit, Edward Galvez v. SpotHero, Inc., alleges this practice constitutes unlawful "drip pricing," where an advertised price omits a mandatory fee that is only revealed later in the transaction.
SpotHero denies any liability or wrongdoing and has not conceded the truth or validity of any of the claims against it. The two sides disagree on whether the plaintiff could have prevailed at trial. By settling, both sides avoid the risk and cost of continued litigation, and eligible class members receive compensation. The Superior Court of California for the County of San Diego granted preliminary approval and will decide whether to grant final approval at a hearing on September 18, 2026.

Who Qualifies?
The Settlement Class includes all individuals who purchased at least one parking reservation through SpotHero's website, www.spothero.com, or its mobile application between July 1, 2024 and March 13, 2025, while in California, and used the "Map View" option to search for the parking spot.
Excluded from the class are people who validly opt out; governmental entities; the parties' lawyers and their firms; SpotHero and its parents, affiliates, subsidiaries, service providers, and their officers and directors; the judge presiding over the case and their immediate family and staff; and anyone who previously entered a release with SpotHero over the same allegations.
How Much Can You Get?
SpotHero has agreed to pay $975,000 in Settlement Benefits to the class. The amount of each class member's benefit depends on the proportion of the total service fees each member paid during the class period, so members who paid more in service fees receive a larger share. The settlement anticipates the average benefit will be approximately $4.76, but any individual benefit can be higher or lower depending on the service fees that person paid.
Notice and administration costs (estimated at $55,000, not to exceed $60,000), a Class Representative incentive award of up to $5,000, and attorneys' fees and expenses of up to $400,000 are paid separately, subject to Court approval. According to the settlement, these costs and fees do not reduce the Settlement Benefits available to class members.
Cash Benefit vs. Credit Voucher
Every class member receives a benefit worth the same dollar amount — the choice is only about the form it takes:
• Do nothing: you automatically receive a Credit Voucher deposited into your SpotHero wallet. The voucher can be used toward any SpotHero purchase — including fees or taxes — for 36 months, can be combined with other SpotHero offers, and any unused balance carries over to future orders.
• File a claim: submit a valid Claim Form by August 25, 2026 to instead receive a Cash Benefit paid by check or electronic payment.
How to File a Claim
To receive a cash payment, file a Claim Form online at the official settlement website or mail a paper form so it is postmarked by August 25, 2026. The online claim form asks you to log in with the Notice ID and Confirmation Code printed in the personalized email notice sent to class members. If you did not receive a notice, or lost your codes, use the contact form on the official settlement website for help. If you take no action, you do not need any codes — the Credit Voucher is issued automatically.
Do You Need Proof to File?
No receipts or purchase documentation are required. However, because the online claim portal is gated behind an administrator-issued Notice ID and Confirmation Code from your emailed notice, filing for the Cash Benefit is treated as proof-required. The automatic Credit Voucher option requires no code and no proof at all.
Your Rights and Options
• Do nothing — automatically receive a Credit Voucher and remain bound by the settlement.
• Submit a Claim Form by August 25, 2026 — receive a Cash Benefit instead of the voucher.
• Exclude yourself by July 26, 2026 — keep your right to sue SpotHero separately, but receive no benefit.
• Object by July 26, 2026 — stay in the class, receive a benefit, and tell the Court why you disagree with the settlement.

When Will Benefits Be Paid?
The Court will hold a Final Approval Hearing on September 18, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. PT, in Department N-29 at the San Diego North County Courthouse in Vista, California. If the Court approves the settlement, benefits will be distributed after the settlement becomes final and any appeals are resolved in its favor. The settlement website will post updates on the case's progress.
