What Is the Team Group DRAM Class Action Settlement?
Did you buy Team Group RAM for a PC build, a gaming rig, a workstation upgrade, or
any other system between 2020 and 2026? You may be eligible for a pro rata cash
payment from a $1.1 million class action settlement. No proof of purchase is required
for up to 5 memory modules per household, and the claim takes only a few minutes to
file. The deadline is July 7, 2026.
The Team Group class action lawsuit, captioned Griffin et al. v. Team Group,
Inc., Case No. 2:24-cv-03681, is pending in the United States District Court
for the Central District of California before Judge Hernán D. Vera. The Team
Group lawsuit alleges that Team Group, Inc. deceptively advertised and labeled the
speed of its DDR-3, DDR-4, and DDR-5 dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) products,
leading consumers to believe the advertised speeds were "out of the box" speeds
requiring no adjustments. In reality, achieving the advertised speeds typically
requires enabling Intel Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) or AMD Expo profiles in the
system BIOS or UEFI, which not all consumers know how to do.
Class Representatives Malcolm Griffin and Kariem Ibrahim argued the advertising
violated state consumer protection statutes and constituted breach of express
warranty. Team Group denies all of the allegations and is settling without
admitting wrongdoing or liability. Class Counsel is Dovel & Luner, LLP. The
Settlement Administrator is Angeion Group.
30-Second Self-Test: Do I Qualify for the Team Group Settlement?
If you can answer yes to all three questions below, you are a Settlement Class
Member and can file a claim.
• Did you purchase Team Group or T-Force brand DRAM memory between May 3,
2020 and April 8, 2026? The class covers DDR-3, DDR-4, and DDR-5 modules
across both consumer and gaming product lines.
• Did you make the purchase while living in the United States? The
class is limited to U.S. residents. Where the purchase was made is not the test;
where you lived at the time of purchase is.
• Was the purchase for personal use (as an individual, not as a business
purchase by an excluded entity)? Excluded from the class are Team Group, its
affiliates, judges and magistrates assigned to the case, Class Counsel, and people
who validly opt out.
If you answered yes to all three, you can file a claim by July 7, 2026. Up to 5
products per household can be claimed without uploading any proof of purchase.
Which Team Group and T-Force DRAM Products Are Covered?
The class period (May 3, 2020 to April 8, 2026) covers nearly six years of Team
Group's product lineup. All Team Group and T-Force DDR-3, DDR-4, and DDR-5 memory
products sold in the United States during that window are covered. Common product
lines include:
• T-Force Vulcan / Vulcan Z: Mid-range gaming DDR-4 and DDR-5 memory,
one of T-Force's highest-volume product lines.
• T-Force Dark / Dark Pro: Mid-to-high performance DDR-4 and DDR-5
modules with low-profile heat spreaders.
• T-Force Delta RGB / Delta TUF Gaming Alliance: Premium RGB-lit gaming
memory across DDR-4 and DDR-5.
• T-Force Xtreem / Xtreem ARGB: Top-tier overclocking memory for
enthusiast builders.
• T-Force Night Hawk / Night Hawk RGB: Premium gaming memory with
distinctive heat-spreader designs.
• Team Group Elite / Elite Plus: Value DDR-3, DDR-4, and DDR-5 modules,
often used in budget builds and OEM applications.
• Team Group Create Expert: Workstation-grade memory for content
creators and professional applications.
• Other Team Group and T-Force DRAM products: Any other DDR-3, DDR-4,
or DDR-5 module released by Team Group during the class period qualifies.
Capacity (8GB, 16GB, 32GB, 64GB, etc.), speed (DDR4-2400 through DDR5-8000 and
higher), latency (CL14, CL16, CL30, etc.), and form factor (DIMM for desktops or
SO-DIMM for laptops) do not affect eligibility. If the product is a Team Group or
T-Force branded DDR-3, DDR-4, or DDR-5 memory module purchased in the United States
during the class period, it qualifies.
How the Proof Requirement Actually Works (Read This Before You File)
One distinctive feature of the Team Group settlement is its generous no-proof rule:
Up to 5 qualifying products per household: no proof required. Class members
who purchased 1 to 5 Team Group or T-Force memory modules can file without
uploading receipts, order confirmations, or product photos. This covers virtually
every typical PC builder, gamer, or workstation user, since most consumer builds
use 1 to 4 memory modules per system.
6 or more qualifying products: proof required for the products beyond the first
5. Households that purchased more than 5 Team Group memory modules during
the class period must provide proof of purchase (typically receipts, order
confirmations, invoices, or product photos showing the SKU) for the additional
products. This rule typically affects system builders, content creators with
multiple workstations, small businesses, and consumers with multiple PCs.
Notice ID and Confirmation Code (optional). The online claim portal at
TeamGroupDRAMSettlement.com offers a fast-path option for class members who
received a postcard notice or email notice from the Settlement Administrator (which
contains a Notice ID and Confirmation Code). Class members who did not receive a
notice can still file by selecting the "I did not receive a notice and need to fill
out a Claim Form" option on the portal and completing the manual form. Both paths
lead to the same Net Settlement Fund.
What Did Team Group Do Wrong According to the Lawsuit?
The technical heart of the Griffin v. Team Group complaint involves how DDR memory
speeds are advertised versus how they actually run by default in a PC. Modern DDR-3,
DDR-4, and DDR-5 memory modules are typically advertised at "rated" speeds (for
example, DDR4-3200, DDR4-3600, DDR5-6000, DDR5-7200), but the JEDEC base speed
(the speed at which the module runs by default with no configuration) is lower.
To achieve the advertised speeds, the user must enable XMP (Intel Extreme Memory
Profile) or AMD Expo profiles in the system BIOS or UEFI. These profiles are stored
on the memory module itself and contain pre-set timings and voltages tuned by the
memory manufacturer. Enabling the profile requires the user to access the
motherboard's BIOS or UEFI menu, navigate to the memory configuration section, and
toggle the XMP or Expo profile on. This is straightforward for experienced PC
builders but is not always obvious to consumers buying pre-built systems or
upgrading a system for the first time.
The plaintiffs allege that Team Group's advertised memory speeds suggested
"out-of-the-box" performance without adequately disclosing that XMP or Expo
activation was required to achieve those speeds. The complaint argues this
advertising violated state consumer protection statutes (including California's
Consumer Legal Remedies Act and similar statutes in other states) and constituted
breach of express warranty. Team Group denies these allegations and maintains its
memory products were appropriately labeled and advertised at all times. The
settlement resolves the case without Team Group admitting wrongdoing.
How Much Will I Get From the Team Group DRAM Settlement?
Payouts are calculated pro rata based on the number of products claimed and the
total number of valid claims. The $1.1 million Settlement Fund is reduced by:
• Court-approved attorneys' fees of up to one-third of the fund (up to
approximately $366,667)
• Reasonable costs sustained by Class Counsel during the litigation
• Service awards to each of the two class representatives, up to $5,000 each
(subject to court approval)
• Notice and administration costs paid to the Settlement Administrator
(Angeion Group)
The remainder is the Net Settlement Fund, which is distributed pro rata per product
across all valid claims. Final per-product dollar amounts cannot be calculated
until after the July 7, 2026 claim deadline because the total number of valid
claims will not be known until then.
Strategic note for PC builders: Because the no-proof cap is 5 products per
household, class members who built multiple PCs during the class period (or who
built a single PC with 4+ memory modules) should claim every qualifying module up
to the 5-product cap. The per-product payout multiplies linearly: a 4-module claim
receives 4x the per-product amount; a 5-module claim receives 5x. The
no-documentation rule for the first 5 products makes this trivial to maximize.
How to File a Team Group DRAM Claim
Two methods are available, both with the same July 7, 2026 deadline.
Method 1: Online (recommended for speed). Visit the official Settlement
Website at TeamGroupDRAMSettlement.com and click Submit
a Claim. On the next screen, select either "I have a Notice ID and Confirmation
Code" (if you received a postcard or email notice from Angeion Group) or "I did not
receive a notice and need to fill out a Claim Form" (if you did not receive a
notice). Both paths lead to the same claim form. List the Team Group DDR-3, DDR-4,
or DDR-5 products you purchased and submit. Online claims with electronic payment
selection are the fastest path to payment after final approval.
Method 2: U.S. mail. Download the printable claim form from the Settlement
Website, complete it (listing your name, contact information, products purchased,
and payment selection), and mail it to the Settlement Administrator at the address
listed on the form. Mailed claims must be postmarked no later than July 7, 2026.
Some class members received a postcard claim form by mail; that paper postcard can
also be completed and mailed back.
If you have more than 5 products: Include proof of purchase (receipts, order
confirmations, invoices, or product photos showing the SKU) for any products
beyond the first 5. The first 5 products are accepted without documentation.
Payment method options: The claim form lets you select electronic payment or
paper check. Electronic payment is faster and recommended. Paper checks expire 180
days after issuance, so claimants who select paper check should cash promptly.
Key Team Group DRAM Settlement Deadlines
• Submit a claim by: Tuesday, July 7, 2026 (online) or postmarked by
July 7, 2026 (mail)
• Opt out of the settlement by: Monday, June 22, 2026 (note this is
earlier than the claim deadline)
• Object to the settlement by: Monday, June 22, 2026
• Class period covered: May 3, 2020 to April 8, 2026
• Final Approval Hearing: Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. PT,
in Courtroom 5B before Judge Hernán D. Vera, First Street U.S. Courthouse,
350 W. 1st Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012
When Will I Receive My Team Group Settlement Payment?
Per the official notice, class members should receive a check or electronic
payment approximately 45 days after the settlement has been finally approved and
any appeals are resolved.
• Best case (no appeals): Final approval at the September 3, 2026
hearing, payments distributed approximately 45 days later in mid to late October
2026.
• If appeals are filed: Distribution can be delayed by 12 to 36 months
while the appellate court reviews the settlement or fee award.
All checks expire and become void 180 days after issuance. If appropriate,
uncashed-check funds may be donated to one or more charities agreed on by the
parties and approved by the court. Electronic payment recipients face no
expiration concern but should claim payments promptly.
What Happens If I Do Nothing?
If you do nothing, you remain in the Settlement Class (assuming you do not opt out)
and will be bound by the court's decisions, but you will not receive any payment.
You will also give up your right to sue Team Group for the legal claims being
released by the settlement, including future claims related to the deceptive speed
advertising allegations.
For Team Group memory buyers, doing nothing is generally not the optimal choice.
The claim takes only a few minutes, requires no documentation for up to 5
products, and the per-product payout (whatever the final pro rata value) flows
directly to claimants from the Settlement Fund.
How to Opt Out or Object to the Settlement
Class members who do not want to be bound by the settlement have two alternatives,
both with the same June 22, 2026 deadline.
Opting out means giving up the right to receive any settlement payment but
preserving the right to sue Team Group individually for the same claims. Opt-out
requests must be in writing, postmarked or delivered by June 22, 2026, and sent to
the Settlement Administrator at the address listed on the official Settlement
Website. The request must include the claimant's name, mailing address, email
address, current telephone number, the full name and specific model of the DRAM
purchased (by SKU or by product line, capacity, speed, and module count), a
statement that the claimant resided in the United States at the time of purchase,
and the claimant's personal signature.
Objecting means staying in the class (and remaining eligible for the
payment) but asking the court to reject or modify the settlement. Written
objections must be filed with the Clerk of the Court (First Street U.S.
Courthouse) by June 22, 2026, with appropriate documentation including grounds
for the objection, legal citations, and the objector's personal signature.
Detailed objection requirements are listed in the official long-form notice.
Other DRAM and PC Memory Class Action Settlements
The Team Group case is the latest in a wave of consumer DRAM class actions
challenging how memory manufacturers advertise speed and performance. PC builders
who bought DDR-4 or DDR-5 desktop memory from multiple brands during overlapping
class periods may qualify for more than one settlement — filing a claim in
one case does not affect eligibility for the others.
• G.Skill RAM Class Action Settlement — $2.4 million
fund for buyers of G.Skill DDR-4 (over 2133 MHz) and DDR-5 (over 4800 MHz) desktop
memory between January 31, 2018 and January 7, 2026. No proof of purchase needed
for up to 5 products per household. Hurd v. G.Skill International, Case
No. 2:22-cv-00685 (C.D. Cal.). The claim deadline (April 7, 2026) has passed;
the final approval hearing is set for June 5, 2026.
• Corsair DDR4 / DDR5 Desktop Memory Speed Settlement —
$5.5 million fund for buyers of Corsair desktop DDR-4 (over 2133 MHz) and DDR-5
(over 4800 MHz) memory between January 14, 2018 and July 2, 2025. No proof of
purchase needed for up to 5 products per household. Final approval granted
January 8, 2026. The claim deadline (October 28, 2025) has passed.
All three cases share the same core theory: that DRAM makers advertised
performance speeds (3200 MHz, 3600 MHz, 6000 MHz, etc.) that could only be
reached after the buyer enabled XMP or EXPO overclocking profiles in the BIOS,
something most consumers do not know to do. The Team Group case sweeps in DDR-3
in addition to DDR-4 and DDR-5, and covers laptop memory along with desktop
modules.
Class members who have received notices from other hardware manufacturers (SSD
manufacturers, GPU and CPU vendors, motherboard companies, etc.) may also qualify
for separate settlements. Check the
OCA database of open class action settlements for any
matching cases that may also pay benefits.
