Ring FTC Refunds: New Zelle Payments for Eligible Camera Customers

Published August 11, 2026

The newest Ring payment is a reissue, not a newly opened claim period. It is going by Zelle to eligible account holders who did not complete an earlier refund.

What Was Announced?

The Federal Trade Commission says it is sending Zelle payments in July 2026 to eligible people who had Ring accounts. The money comes from the agency’s privacy and data-security settlement with the home-camera company.

This is not a new application period. The Zelle payments are being sent to people who did not cash an earlier check or accept an earlier PayPal payment. Prior rounds in April 2024 and August 2025 resulted in more than $5.4 million in completed refunds, according to the current FTC program page.

Why Did Ring Customers Receive Refunds?

The FTC charged Ring with failing to place adequate limits on employee and contractor access to customer videos and with leaving customer accounts vulnerable to online attacks. The agency said some intruders gained control of accounts, cameras, and stored or live video.

The 2023 settlement required a monetary payment for consumer refunds, deletion of certain data and products derived from videos, and a privacy and security program. The refund program is separate from OCA’s coverage of a later Ring facial-recognition class action, which involves different allegations and is not the source of these payments.

How the July 2026 Zelle Payment Works

The FTC says the payment is deposited directly into the recipient’s linked bank account and carries a note referring to the settlement. Because this round targets unclaimed earlier refunds, a person does not become eligible simply by opening a Ring account now or by filling out a third-party form.

Review the bank entry and save a screenshot or statement showing the deposit. If the name or amount is unfamiliar, verify it through the official FTC Ring refund page rather than responding to an unsolicited message.

What If You Expected a Ring Refund?

The refund administrator used prior program records to identify this Zelle group. The FTC page does not offer a new claim form, and it does not say that every Ring customer is entitled to a payment.

A caller who asks for a fee, password, verification code, or transfer in order to release the money is not following the FTC process. OCA’s identity-theft recovery checklist explains immediate steps if account credentials were already shared.

Security Steps for Ring Users

A refund does not replace basic account security. Use a unique password, enable available multifactor authentication, review authorized devices and users, and remove access that is no longer needed.

Those steps address current account risk; they do not change refund eligibility. The current Zelle distribution is based on the closed enforcement settlement and prior payment records.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did I get a Ring settlement payment through Zelle?

The FTC is sending Zelle payments to eligible Ring account holders who did not cash an earlier refund check or accept an earlier PayPal payment tied to the agency’s privacy and security settlement.

Is there a new Ring FTC refund claim form?

No. The July 2026 payment round is based on existing refund records, and the FTC has not opened a new public claim form for this distribution.

How much has the FTC already refunded to Ring customers?

The current FTC program page says earlier rounds in April 2024 and August 2025 resulted in more than $5.4 million in completed refunds.

What was the Ring FTC settlement about?

The FTC charged Ring with inadequate controls on access to customer videos and insufficient account-security safeguards. The settlement funded refunds and imposed privacy, deletion, and security requirements.
