Royal Oak Enterprises, LLC, of Roswell, Georgia, is recalling about 190,560 Royal Oak Flame Saber lighters in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall was announced February 26, 2026 (Recall No. 26-284). The lighters are red with a black-and-gray checkered grip and have a hands-free operation lock. Each lighter carries the warnings "DANGER: Extremely Flammable, Content Under Pressure" and "WARNING: Only store in locked position" on the sides, with the Royal Oak logo on the front.
The lighters were sold at Lowe's, The Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Rural King, and Ace Hardware stores nationwide and online at Lowes.com, HomeDepot.com, TractorSupply.com, RuralKing.com, and AceHardware.com from November 2023 through October 2025 for about $3. Consumers who have one of these lighters should stop using it immediately and contact Royal Oak for a full refund.
According to the CPSC recall notice, the recalled lighters violate the mandatory federal standard for multipurpose lighters because they do not have the required child-resistant mechanisms, posing a risk of serious injury or death from fire and burn hazards. The lighters also violate the labeling requirements under the Federal Hazardous Substances Act by missing required safety information. No incidents or injuries had been reported at the time the recall was announced.
Multipurpose and utility lighters that lack working child-resistant features are a recurring source of CPSC recalls because young children can operate them. Keeping any non-compliant lighter out of reach of children — and following the recall remedy — is the safest course.
You are covered by the recall if you own a Royal Oak Flame Saber lighter — the red lighter with the black-and-gray checkered grip and hands-free operation lock described above — bought between November 2023 and October 2025. If you have one, the CPSC says you should stop using it immediately, keep it away from children, and follow Royal Oak's instructions to destroy the lighter and request your refund.
Royal Oak is handling the recall through a dedicated recall page. There is no cost to participate:
• Stop using the recalled lighter immediately and keep it away from children
• Contact Royal Oak through the official Flame Saber recall page
• Provide a photo of the product and the location of purchase for validation (include a copy of your receipt if you have it)
• Follow Royal Oak's instructions to safely destroy the lighter and submit proof of destruction
• Receive a full refund
Because the remedy requires destroying the lighter and submitting proof, do not discard the lighter before completing the steps Royal Oak provides. The official recall page is also linked from royaloak.com under "Recall."
Recalls of consumer products that fail mandatory safety standards sometimes draw class action or product-liability investigations, and some law firms have publicized investigations into the Flame Saber lighter recall. No class action complaint had been publicly confirmed as of this writing, and no incidents or injuries were reported with the recall. If a lawsuit is filed, this page will be updated. For now, the recall remedy — a full refund after destroying the lighter — is the official path for affected owners.
