What Changed Recently?

Tenet Healthcare Corporation, which owns and operates hospitals and outpatient centers across the country, agreed to settle a class action over its use of third-party tracking technologies, often called tracking pixels, on its websites and patient portals. The plaintiffs claimed the pixels sent information about website visitors to third parties in violation of privacy laws. The case is Jane Doe v. AMISUB (SFH), Inc. d/b/a Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis, No. CT-3086-23, in the Circuit Court for Shelby County, Tennessee.

Tenet Healthcare denies that it did anything wrong, and the court has not decided who is right. Notices and enrollment-code postcards have been sent to class members identified in Tenet’s records.

Who Qualifies?

The court defined the class as all “Identifiable Individuals” who used or accessed Tenet’s online platforms from January 1, 2017 through September 18, 2023. An identifiable individual is someone who, during that period, used a website or patient portal owned or operated by Tenet Healthcare, any of its affiliated covered entities, or former affiliated covered entities to: The online platforms include Tenet’s websites, patient portals, the Healthelife app, and other web-based tools run by or for Tenet. The settlement website describes class members as individuals identified by Tenet Healthcare’s records, so people who are unsure whether they are included can ask the settlement administrator through the official website. The judge and court staff, Tenet and its officers, directors and related companies, the lawyers for both sides, and anyone who opts out are excluded.

How Much Can You Get?

Every class member can claim two benefits, either or both: The $16 amount is fixed; the settlement website does not describe it as a pro rata share of a fund. Tenet pays the class lawyers’ fees and costs separately, which class counsel will ask the court to set at $8.5 million, along with service awards of $3,500 for each class representative.

What Proof or Notice ID Is Required?

No receipts or explanation are needed for the $16 payment. The printable claim form asks for a name, mailing address, email and phone number, a payment method, and the Login ID from the notice “if known.” Class members are identified from Tenet’s records, and the claim is checked against that list, so the notice Tenet’s administrator mailed is the practical key to filing.

The online claim form had not opened as of October 11, 2026. Online claim forms on other settlement websites run by the same administrator open only after the claimant enters the Login ID and PIN printed on the notice, and OCA will update this page once Tenet’s online form is live and its requirements can be confirmed.

What Is the Deadline?

Claims must be submitted online, once the online form opens, or received by mail by March 15, 2027. The deadline to opt out of the settlement or object to it is November 27, 2026.

How Do You Take Action?

Claims are filed through the official Tenet Healthcare Pixel Settlement website, which also posts the printable claim form, the notice, the settlement agreement and the preliminary approval order. Until the online form opens, the only way to file is to print, complete and mail the paper claim form. The claim form offers payment by PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, virtual prepaid card or paper check. Only one claim is allowed per person.

What Happens Next?

The court will hold a final approval hearing on January 14, 2027 at 10 a.m. Central. If it approves the settlement, payments will be issued after any appeals are resolved. The settlement website does not give a payment date.

Other health systems have settled similar tracking-pixel claims; the Wellstar and Boone Health settlements are also taking claims.
