Walmart Expert Grill Brush Recall — 4.48 Million Brushes, Refund or Store Credit

Published October 3, 2026

People who bought one of five Expert Grill wire grill brushes or tool sets at Walmart or Walmart.com from January 2021 through August 2026 can get a full refund or a Walmart credit. Stop using the brush and return it to Walmart; the brush itself is the proof of purchase.

What Is Being Recalled?

Walmart recalled about 4,477,655 Expert Grill wire grill brushes on October 1, 2026, in a recall announced with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (Recall No. 27-010). Small metal bristles can come loose, stick to the grill grate or to food, and be swallowed, which the CPSC says can cause serious internal injuries that may require surgery. The remedy is a full refund or a credit for use at any Walmart store or on Walmart.com.

The brushes are Walmart’s own Expert Grill brand, sold in Walmart stores and on Walmart.com from January 2021 through August 2026 for $1 to $28. No injuries had been reported when the recall was announced.

The Five Recalled Models

The model number is printed on the packaging or on a sticker or tag attached to the brush. The brushes have black plastic or stainless-steel handles, and some include a metal scraper.

How to Get the Refund

The CPSC notice tells owners to stop using the brushes immediately and contact Walmart for a full refund or a Walmart credit. The refund runs on the brush itself: owners bring the recalled brush back to Walmart, and no receipt or photo is listed as required. Walmart’s instructions are on the CPSC notice and on Walmart’s help center, both linked under Sources.

Keep the brush until the refund is done: the brush itself is the proof Walmart works from, so an owner who throws it away first has nothing to return.

Check the grill grate for loose bristles, too. They are thin and hard to see, and they are the actual hazard here, not the brush itself.

Part of a Wider Run of Grill Brush Recalls

The Walmart recall follows two other large wire-brush recalls this year over the same hazard, and it is bigger than both. In February, Weber recalled 3.2 million grill brushes, with a free replacement (Weber grill brush recall), and in July Cuisinart pulled 1.7 million (Cuisinart grill brush recall). Each recall has its own remedy and its own process, so a refund from one company does not cover another company’s brush.

Questions

Which Expert Grill brushes are recalled?

Five models sold at Walmart and Walmart.com from January 2021 through August 2026: EX5607031616002 (16-inch steel fiber scrub brush and scraper), EX5607031616003 (handheld steel fiber scrub brush), XG1310700206 (21-inch 3-head brush with stainless steel bristles), XG1136178597003 (17.7-inch long-handle brush with scraper) and XG1410700124 (10-piece BBQ grill tools set). The model number is on the packaging or on a sticker or tag attached to the brush.

What does Walmart give for a recalled grill brush?

A full refund, or a credit that can be used at any Walmart store or on Walmart.com. Owners stop using the brush and return it to Walmart, which treats the brush itself as the proof.

Do I need a receipt for the Walmart grill brush refund?

A receipt is not what the refund turns on — the brush is. The recalled brush itself is the proof: owners return it to Walmart for the full refund or Walmart credit. The CPSC notice does not list a receipt or photo requirement.

Has anyone been hurt by the Expert Grill brushes?

No injuries had been reported when the recall was announced on October 1, 2026. The hazard is that small wire bristles can break off, stick to the grill grate or food, and be swallowed, which can cause internal injuries that may require surgery.
